Horseback Riding Lessons

Three Ships offers a variety of professional riding lessons – for children (ages 5 and up) and adults – taught as private or group sessions, scheduled by appointment. Three Ships offers horseback riding in Indiana. We instruct beginners through advanced riders in equitation, hunters, and jumpers. With both indoor and outdoor riding arenas lessons are not weather dependent. Rain or shine – open year-round (many evening classes available too).

Riders taking lessons at Three Ships are offered many added opportunities to enrich their talents with competitions, clinics, and special events that increase rider knowledge and skills. These activities allow our students to progress faster and master the requisite skills necessary to attain the next level in their riding. Our riders compete successfully at the local and national level and we’re able to create an environment where riders of all ages and abilities can excel.

All beginner riders are expected to arrive 30 minutes prior to their lesson times. A working student is provided for all beginner riders as they learn to groom, tack, and untack their lesson pony. Once a beginner is able to demonstrate the necessary skills to be independent, then they will advance to private and group riding lessons where they will be required to allow enough time prior to their lesson for grooming and tacking independently. Lesson Prices

Group lessons are generally an 45 min- a hour long and consist of two to three riders of similar age and skill level.  Riders are expected to allow enough time prior to the lesson for grooming and tacking the horse. (NOTE: Please see Lesson Rules & Policies below).

​​Clients are also able to haul in to take a lesson with one of our trainers.

School Lesson Costs

  • School Beginner 1/2 hour $60
  • School Group 45-60 minutes (2-3 riders) $65
  • School Private 45 minutes $75
